Bone Broth Hot Chocolate

Cozy, nourishing, and made with real ingredients from The Ridge

When the weather turns cold and the days get shorter, there’s nothing quite like wrapping your hands around a warm mug. This Bone Broth Hot Chocolate brings together the comfort of classic hot cocoa with the nourishing benefits of our pasture-raised chicken bone broth. It’s rich, velvety, lightly sweet, and packed with minerals and collagen your body craves during the winter months.

Whether you’re winding down from a long day, enjoying a quiet moment alone, or looking for a healthier, more nourishing alternative to traditional hot chocolate, this mug is pure comfort — and so easy to make.

Why Bone Broth Works in Hot Chocolate

Bone broth’s natural richness blends beautifully with cocoa, creating a silky, savory-sweet drink that feels decadent while actually supporting your digestion, immunity, joints, and overall well-being.

Using broth from our pasture-raised chickens means deeper flavor, clean ingredients, and the nutrient density only regenerative farming can provide.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • ⅔ cup chicken bone broth (from The Ridge — ready-made or homemade using our broth packs)

  • 1 ½ cups milk of your choice (our raw milk is incredible here)

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup

  • 2–3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

  • Dash of cinnamon

  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, marshmallows, chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Warm the broth.

In a saucepan over medium heat, bring the bone broth to a gentle steam.

  2. Whisk to perfection.

Add milk, maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla, and cinnamon. Whisk until creamy and smooth.

  3. Make it frothy.

Pour into two mugs. Use a milk frother for extra warmth and café-style foam.

  4. Top and enjoy.

Add whipped cream or marshmallows — or sip it plain for pure, cozy nourishment.

Tips & Variations (Ridge Favorites)

  • Use our raw milk for unmatched creaminess.

It adds natural sweetness and body that pairs beautifully with cocoa.

  • Upgrade with raw heavy cream.

Just a splash transforms this into a rich, velvety winter treat.

  • Prefer dairy-free?

Coconut or oat milk still make it cozy and delicious.

  • Adjust the sweetness by changing the amount of maple syrup.

  • Boost the nourishment with a scoop of collagen peptides.

  • Make it deeply chocolatey with dark cocoa powder and a pinch of sea salt.

  • Scale it up or down — halve for one mug or double for a family batch.

Why We Love It at The Ridge

  • It’s nutrient-dense comfort in a mug.

  • It’s a fun and unexpected way to use bone broth — especially for kids or guests.
